Digital Book World (F+W Media)
Digital Book World is a world-class event that was first launched to address the ever-changing digital publishing industry, and has evolved into an online community offering educational content, webcasts, and networking resources for digital publishing professionals. With a focus on eBooks, DBW continues to be a thought-leader for the publishing community in the 21st century.
As part of my work for the community, I’ve helped launch a digital publishing directory, connecting professionals in fields such as:
- eBook Design & Development
- Social Media, Marketing & Publicity
- Transmedia Companies
- Editorial & Content Services
- Database Management, IT & Consulting
In addition to launching the directory, I’ve built an online renewal strategy for their membership platform (using email automation and WordPress plugins), re-aligned their taxonomy (implementing 301 redirects for all URL changes), restructured their navigational menus for better usability, begun the launch of keyword-focused landing pages (i.e. – How to Publish an eBook), and have led the business strategy behind the site redesign. This community has provided me with some of my favorite projects, and I truly enjoy watching it grow!
Digital Publishing Events & Awards
Digital Book World Conference
Digital Book World 2012 is a dedicated digital publishing conference offering trade book publishers facts and data on the direction of the book publishing business along with strategies for taking immediate advantage of digital publishing opportunities as they develop in today’s publishing industry. Speakers and attendees come from reputable companies such as Amazon, Aptara, Apple, etc.
As Online Product Manager, I work closely with F+W Media’s Events and Development teams to establish a core online presence for the conference, helping to drive awareness and registrations…along with some SEO and usability guidance.
StoryWorld Conference + Expo
Founded off of the success of the Digital Book World Conference, StoryWorld Conference + Expo is a transmedia storytelling conference focused on the art and business of creating a rich, cohesive digital storytelling through film, book, game, social media, and more. Transmedia is the most exciting and potentially lucrative development in entertainment publishing, today.
Similar to the Digital Book World Conference, I work with the Events and Development teams to help build the core online presence for this event in order to drive awareness and registrations. I also aid the team’s email marketing campaigns, tracking statistics and assisting with product development.
Publishing Innovation Awards
Also a created from the success of DBW, the Publishing Innovation Awards are book awards for eBooks that honor the most innovative eBooks, enhanced eBooks, and book apps published each year. The goal of the awards is to highlight publishers (and authors) who who go beyond the status quo and further evolve the reading experience in the digital age.
My involvement with the Publishing Innovation Awards has been focused around building awareness through external site marketing and preliminary SEO/link-building.
